Teaceher's
Nancy Clark, Studio Manager

Inflexibility brought me to yoga. A natural couch potato, I exercised for the same reason I flossed my teeth: because I had to. Nine years ago I began doing yoga with the hope of becoming more limber. The turning point came in 2000 when I underwent chemotherapy for breast cancer. After that, I realized life needs to be spent doing what you really enjoy. Exercise had been a chore, but yoga was a joy. For many years, I had seen my body as an adversary, but yoga helped me notice my body, what it needed, and tuned me into the moment. I gave up going to the gym and concentrated on deepening my yoga practice.

In 2004, I completed a 200 hour teaching certificate with Eight Limbs Yoga. Last year I took a sabbatical from my career as an emergency medicine physician and dedicated myself to teaching. I teach Vinyasa flow and hot yoga informed by Iyengar and Anusara alignment. In my classes I link movement with breath and focus on alignment for joint safety, injury prevention, and maximum benefit from each pose. It's important to me that students gain awareness of their body's needs and that they develop their own practice. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, I make sure to bring a sense of humor to my classes.
