I am a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor at the 200-hour level. I spent 2004 studying yoga, meditation (and life in
general) in India and Southeast Asia. I have been practicing yoga for five years, primarily a Vinyasa style that focuses
on synchronizing breath and posture in a moving meditation. I am interested in how the postures and breathing techniques
of yoga can reveal and transform habits of the heart and the mind. My main teacher is Tom Gillette, a masterful vinyasa
teacher in Providence, Rhode Island. I have been a student of Buddhism for six years, and its emphasis on mindfulness
and compassion shows up in my teaching. Other influences include a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, improvisational theater,
West African dance, and a love of brain science. Check out my website at gratefulyoga.com for some travel stories. |
